A Stream was Eaten
ACK!
Twitch has a feature called “Bandwidth Test Mode” — streaming apps like OBS can sorta fake-stream and Twitch will not actually show it to people, but merely report the bandwidth used, any dropped frames, etc.
Yesterday I installed a variant of OBS which apparently has its own set of preferences. Bandwidth Test Mode was, unbeknownst to me, on. And, unlike the regular version of OBS, it didn’t throw up a confirmation when I started streaming.Hence, no one saw the stream. It’s not available as a VOD. It doesn’t exist.
I streamed for three hours to no one. Argh.
